Rose water
The scent of rose water, which carries the coolness of spring rains with its refreshing effect, penetrates to the deepest part of the soul. Roses, the scent of divine love, renew your energy with the invigorating effect they carry in their fresh buds. Rose water, which you can use on your skin and give life to your skin as a light perfume, creates a velvet touch on your skin with its miraculous softness. This rare flower water, which will awaken your senses with the wonderful scent of rose gardens, can be used easily daily.
The place where rose water medicinal and scented oils are obtained is called Gülhane and it is officially documented in the archives that this name comes from rose water production. Tons of rose water produced every year were used by the chief physician of the palace to prepare medicines. Medicines made under the supervision of the chief physician's method, pharmacists, başlalar, Enderun kullukçusu and zuluflu baltaci were sealed and preserved. Natural rose essences, which were a source of healing, provided a cure for many diseases. Rose water, which is especially preferred for skin and eye diseases, also provided psychological relief with its scent that promised a spiritual effect. Rose essence, known to have been used by our Prophet Muhammad, is also considered to be among the favorite scents of Fatih Sultan Mehmet Khan.
Rose water, which was frequently used when hosting guests, was used in Mawlids, welcoming ceremonies, and religious ceremonies. When fresh rose water was sprinkled on the hands of the guests, this pleasant-smelling and healing oil indicated a pleasant ritual. Rose water, which also has a privileged place in the religion of Islam, was used to wash newly built mosques before they were opened for worship. While streets were also washed with rose water in certain periods, rose essences were also used in Ottoman cuisine. Rose water, which was used in desserts such as güllaç, water pudding, and güllabiye, was also included in sherbets and compotes.
Evliya Çelebi's travelogue also includes sections on rose water. In addition to the rose waters sold by the tradesmen called Gülabcıyan, jasmine, basil, hyacinth, and violet waters were also used, and the streets of the Ottoman Empire smelled like a real garden with the fragrance of the flower waters. Rose water was known as ma-i gül and was specially prepared every year especially for the month of Ramadan. Rose water essences signed by Tiyrus were also distilled in Isparta with traditional methods. Rose petals nourished by the healing properties of April rains were collected and prepared with rituals in the presence of valuable people in Konya. Rose water essences specially produced for Ramadan-ı Şerif were bottled in 50 ml bottles in sizes that you can carry their intense effect in your bag at all times.
